NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The York College volleyball squad continued their late season struggles as the Christopher Newport Captains blanked the Spartans 3-0 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Friday night in Newport News, Virginia. The Captains remain perfect in the CAC with one conference game remaining in their season.

How It Happened
• The Captains raced out to a 9-4 lead in the first set to gain control early. The Spartans tied the set at 16 on an Emily Pupo service ace. The Captains ripped off three straight points to take a 19-16 lead. York answered with two points of their own but the Captains scored five of the final seven points of the set to capture the 25-20 win.
• CNU again got off to a good start in the second set as they raced out to a 13-4 lead. The Spartans would never really recover as the Captains would roll to the 25-14 set two victory.
• The third set saw York turn the tables, at least early in the set as they started with a 9-4 advantage. The Captains tied the set at 12 on a Spartan attack error. The Spartans took a 13-12 lead on a Sydney Wilber kill but CNU answered with a 10-2 run that gave the Captains a 22-15 lead. CNU scored three of the final five points of the set to close out the match and sweep the Green and White.
