Volleyball Notches 3-1 Road Win at Immaculata

IMMACULATA, PA – The York College volleyball team got back on the winning side of the ledger with a 3-1 road win at Immaculata University on Wednesday night in Immaculata, PA. The Spartans snapped their two-match losing streak as they nudged back up above .500 for the campaign.

How It Happened:

• The Spartans got off to a great start in the first set as they raced out to a 9-2 lead. The Mighty Macs trimmed the lead to three at 10-7 but the Spartans ripped off a 12-1 run to forge a 21-8 lead before cruising to the 25-9 set one win.

• Immaculata turned the tables in the second set as they scored the first five points of the set. York eventually drew even at eight as that was part of a 13-4 run that saw the Spartans take a four-point lead. The Spartans eventually pushed the lead to five at 17-12 on a Lexi Daley service ace. Immaculata battled back to tie the set at 20 before they took a 22-20 lead. The Spartans ripped off four straight points to take the 24-22 lead. The Macs got an Isabelle Davis kill and a McKenna Ryan service ace to tie the set at 24. The set would be tied again at 25 and 26 before a pair of Spartan attack errors gave Immaculata the 28-26 set two win.

• The third set was back and forth as there were 12 ties in the first 30 points of the set. The trend continued as there were one more tie at 17 before York ended the set on an 8-2 run to capture the six-point set win.

• The fourth set was almost a carbon copy of the third as the scoring was back and forth. The Spartans pushed out to a 12-8 lead on a Mighty Mac attack error. York went on a five-point run to push out to a 17-12 lead. Immaculata trimmed the lead to 17-16 but York answered by scoring eight of the final 11 points of the set to close out the match.
