YORK, PA - York College junior middle hitter Madyson Whitcomb was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Whitcomb came up big for the Spartans this week as York won the Messiah College Invitational this past weekend.
On Friday, Whitcomb recorded 16 kills and hit .419 with two block assists in the dramatic five set win over DeSales. She followed that on Saturday with a career-high 23 kills in the four set win over Messiah. She hit .553 while she also had a block solo for a career-high 24 points in the win. Whitcomb finished the weekend with 15 kills in a three-set win over New Rochelle. She hit a career-high .609 as she had just one error in her 23 attempts.
For the week, Whitcomb had 60 kills with nine errors in 107 attempts as she hit .477. She averaged 4.0 kills per set while she also had 0.4 blocks per set.
For the season, Whitcomb leads the CAC in hitting percentage (.472), is third in kills per game (2.95), fourth in total kills, and seventh in total blocks (28).
