How It Happened:
• The first set saw both teams battle back and forth. The set was tied at 11 and the Saints proceeded to rip off a 7-1 run to forge an 18-12 lead. York cut the lead to four on a Brooke Krebs kill but the Saints scored three straight points. One point came on a service error while the other two were Spartan attack errors. York halted the run with a Hannah Siaurusaitis kill followed by another point for the Green and White. The Saints captured the final two points of the set for the 25-18 win.
• In the second set, the Saints sprinted out to a 10-5 lead. York came back to tie the set at 12. York eventually pushed out to a 16-13 lead only to see Marymount go on a 6-0 run to take a 19-16 advantage. A Madyson Whitcomb kill got York back to within one at 21-20 but again Marymount answered. This time it was a 3-0 spurt that pushed York to the brink. A Krebs kills drew York to within three but a Spartan attack error gave Marymount the 25-21 set two win.
• The third set was back-and-forth from the beginning. Neither team had more than a three-point lead over the first 35 points of the game. With the Saints leading 19-16, York put together a 5-0 spurt including a pair of Gabby Emeigh service aces, to take a 21-19 lead. Marymount responded with a three-point spurt of their own to take a 22-21 lead. York got back-to-back kills from Krebs and Eryn Brady to take at 23-22 lead. The Saints scored three of the next five points, tying the set at 25. A pair of Mykael Johnson kills ended the match and led Marymount to a 27-25 set three match as the Spartans suffered the sweep.
