SWARTHMORE, PA – The York College men's and women's track teams took a number of athletes to Swarthmore College on Monday to compete in the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet. The meet featured warm and humid conditions that tamped down some of the athlete performances.

Junior Alayna De Bruin had a big night for the Green and White as she bested her personal best in the 5,000 meter run by over 25 seconds. De Bruin finished with a time of 18:13.29 as she was 26th in the 46 runner field. She was the top finisher among all Capital Athletic Conference participants.

Senior Alex Smith knocked six seconds off his PR in the 5,000 meter run as he crossed the line in a time of 14:50. Smith finished 14th of 95 runners in the event. Ben Linne and Jake O'Neill also ran in the event. Linne notched a time of 15:26.41 while O'Neill crossed the line with a time of 15:39.07.

Senior Grant Dell participated in the 1,500 meter run to close out his stellar Spartan career. Dell posted a time of 3:59.02.

On the women's side, Jess DelViscio joined De Bruin in the 5K as DelViscio finished with a time of 18:27.15.

The Spartans will now wait to learn if Smith earns a second consecutive berth in the NCAA 3,000 meter steeplechase. Currently, Smith sits ninth in Division III in the event with a time of 9:08.85. That time earned him his second straight Capital Athletic Conference championship. The official championship invitations come out on Saturday afternoon.
