Spartan Women Fall at Salisbury on Sunday

SALISBURY, MD – The York College women's tennis squad dropped a 6-0 decision at Salisbury University on Sunday in a Capital Athletic Conference match. The match was played at Salisbury's indoor facility and was played to decision.

The Spartans fall to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the CAC while the Sea Gulls improve to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the league. The Sea Gulls are ranked #17 in the region.

The Sea Gulls opened the match with a second doubles win as Jordan Schaefer and Sydney Soto earned an 8-0 win. The Gulls picked up an 8-3 first doubles win followed by an 8-2 third doubles victory to take the 3-0 lead.

The Sea Gulls recorded a 6-1, 6-3 first singles win at Annika Kezman downed Gina Liguori. Soto defeated Jessica Sherman in the third singles win to put the Gulls up 5-0. Taylor Cooper closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Maisie Supp in the second singles match.

The Spartans are set to return to action on Friday, April 5 when they host the University of Mary Washington in a Capital Athletic Conference match. The action is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
