Spartan Women End Fall Semester with Big Win over Washington (Md.)

YORK, PA – The York College women's swim team closed out the 2018 portion of their schedule with a 150-95 non-conference win over Washington (Md.) on Saturday in York. The Spartans improve to 5-1 overall while the Shorewomen fall to 3-5. The Spartans have won three straight dual meets.

The Spartans had a trio of swimmers earn a pair of individual wins as Madeline Mann, Caitlin Campbell, and Kristin Bria all picked up two wins during the day.

The Spartans swam the 500 free, the 100 fly, the 200 IM, and the 400 free relay as exhibition as the meet was well in hand for the Green and White … senior Madeline Mann doubled her win total for the year as she now has four victories for the Green and White … senior Andrea Sturgis earned her fourth win of the year as she touched the wall first in the 1000 freestyle race … junior Caitlin Campbell earned her first two wins of the year with her backstroke wins on Saturday … freshman Kristin Bria earned her first two collegiate victories as she won the 100 breaststroke and the 50 freestyle … sophomore Alyssa Coon earned her fourth win of the year as she is now tied with Mann and Sturgis with four individual wins each … freshman Taylor Harper earned her first collegiate victory as she won the 200 breaststroke.

 

Up Next

The Spartans are now off until Saturday, January 19 when they head to Frostburg State University for a Capital Athletic Conference dual meet in Frostburg, Maryland. It will be the last time the Spartans and Bobcats meet as conference opponents as the Bobcats are leaving the CAC at the end of the academic year.
