Spartan Women Pick Up Saturday CAC Win at St. Mary's

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College women's swim squad earned their second straight Capital Athletic Conference win as they downed the St. Mary's College Seahawks 140-114 in conference action on Saturday in St. Mary's City, MD.

The Spartans improve to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the CAC.

York had a trio of swimmers earn multiple wins on the day. Andrea Sturgis won the 500 and 1000 freestyle while Justine Wantz was victorious in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Alyssa Coon captured wins in the 100 and 200 butterfly for the Spartans.

York swam the 200 IM and the 200 freestyle relay as exhibitions as the meet was well in hand before those races … junior Justine Wantz now has a team-leading six individual wins in three meets for the year … Andrea Sturgis pushed her season win total to three with her two wins on Saturday … Alyssa Coon also now has three individual wins for the campaign … Adrianna Ayala is the third Spartan with three individual wins for the year as she is tied with Sturgis and Coon for second place on the squad … senior Madeline Mann earned three seconds on Saturday as she now has a team-leading four runner up finishes for the year.

The Spartans will now be off until Friday, November 16 when they head to Lancaster, PA to participate in the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational. The action kicks off Friday evening at 6:30 pm.
