YORK, PA – The York College women's soccer team celebrated senior day with an impressive 2-0 shutout of CAC foe Frostburg State University on a windy Saturday afternoon in York.

Match #16

Final Score: York 2 – FSU 0

Records: York 7-9, (3-3), FSU 4-10-1, (2-3-1)

Shots: York 17, FSU 9

Shots on Goal: York 6, FSU 4

Corner Kicks: York 8, FSU 1

Saves: York 4, FSU 4

How It Happened:

• The Spartan offense wasted no time to get on the scoreboard as Natalie McCarthy was on the receiving end of a perfect cross from Caitlyn Findlay from the right wing and McCarthy placed the ball perfectly in the right corner of the net to give York an early 1-0 advantage.

• The remainder of the half was played mostly in the midfield with both teams jockeying for possession, however in the final minutes of the first half the Bobcats got a fortuitous bounce and had an open net for two shots. One hit square off the right post and the other was saved by senior defender Alyssa Rankin at the goal line to keep the Spartans ahead at the break.

• Only 4:04 into the second period, the Spartans added an insurance goal off a Caitlin Rankin corner kick from the right corner and Megan Stoltzfus was able to get a head on the ball and place it right over the outstretched arms of the Bobcat keeper and into the right side of the net giving York a 2-0 lead.

• The Spartans continued to dominate the majority of possession in the second half and were able to pick up the key CAC victory 2-0.
