The York College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame class has been selected for enshrinement in October. Jerry Bowne (wrestling), Amanda (Lomberg) Dion (women’s soccer), Kristen (Daly) Morris (women’s basketball), Josh Papsan (men’s lacrosse), Chris Ports (men’s soccer), and Jeff Young (baseball) comprise this year’s class, the 29th class in the history of the Athletic Hall of Fame.
The York College wrestling squad received great news last week when the top-30 All-Academic wrestling team list was released as announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association on Thursday with York finished with the 21st best GPA in the country. Three Spartans also earned spots on the NWCA All-Academic team.
Three Spartan wrestlers punched their tickets to the national tournament after finishing in the top three of their respective weight classes. Greg Warner, Dylan Nuttall, and Brandon Ballard all earned national championship bids on Saturday.
The Spartan wrestling team had a strong first day at the Southeast Regional tournament sending four wrestlers into Saturday’s semifinals. The Spartans also have another wrestler still alive in the tournament with a chance to advance to the semifinals tomorrow morning.
