Spartan Wrestling Ready for Regional Tournament

YORK, PA. – The York College wrestling squad heads into this weekend's NCAA Division III Southeast Regional in Williamsport, Pa., hosted by Lycoming College. The Spartans have a 14-3 dual-meet record and are currently ranked as the 23rd best team in the country.

Four Spartans in the lineup are looking to return to the national tournament led by Greg Warner who looks to earn his fourth bid in his historic career. The top three wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the national tournament being held in Roanoke, Va., hosted by Ferrum College.

 

STARTING LINEUP

125Dylan Nuttall – Nuttall looks to repeat as the regional champion after a 9-8 season this year. Nuttall picked up two pins, two tech falls, and a major decision in his senior year. Nuttall is one of the two wrestlers this year for the Spartans looking for repeat titles at the regional tournament.

133Tyson McDuffy The freshman looks to have a strong showing in his first experience at the regional tournament. McDuffy finished 7-7 in his first season wearing the Green and White along with a pair of tech falls and a pin.

141: Blake Shalbert – Shalbert, another freshman, will look to have success in his first regional tournament. Shalbert posted 10 wins in his first collegiate season while recorded one pin fall and a major decision.

149Greg Warner – The three-time All-American had another special year in his final season garnering the Green and White. Warner posted a 25-6 record this season with a team-leading six major decisions and nine tech falls. Warner looks to reach the national tournament for the fourth time in his career while also looking to defend his Southeast Regional title.

165Jesse Rocco – Rocco, a sophomore, is making his first appearance in the regional tournament after winning a career-high 15 matches this season. Rocco was one of five Spartans this year to have at least five pins. He opened up the year with a fourth place finish at the Monarch Invitational.

174Joe Sindoni – Sindoni is another Spartan looking to return to the national tournament after a third-place finish at last year's regional meet. Sindoni finished the year 13-2 with four pins and four major decision victories. Sindoni opened the year with a runner-up finish in the Monarch Invitational.

184Frankie Krauss – Krauss had a sensational senior campaign posting a team-high 27 wins to just four losses to go along with four pins and four tech falls. Krauss opened up the season with a pair of tournament wins in the Monarch Invitational and the Fall Brawl. Krauss finished third last year earning a spot in the national tournament and is poised to make a run to return to nationals and make a bid at All-American honors.

197Jesse Huber – The senior had a breakout season to conclude his Spartan career posting a stellar 19-4 record. The 19 wins were a career-high for Huber while also accumulating four major decisions, three tech falls, and a pin. He had a strong showing finishing third in the loaded New Standard Invitational in December. Huber, one of six current Spartans with at least 50 career victories, will look to make his first appearance in the national tournament.

285Brandon Ballard – Ballard will take the duties in the heavyweight class after notching three wins on the year. Of the three wins for Ballard, two of them came in pin falls.
