Spartans Dominate to 3-0 Day in Quad Match

YORK, PA – The #25 York College wrestling squad picked up three convincing victories in a quad-meet against Penn St. Mon-Alto, Southern Virginia, and Penn College on Saturday afternoon.


The win pushes the York record to 12-3 as they have now won eight of their past nine matches. The victory comes off a convincing 29-12 victory over Johns Hopkins last Friday. 


The Spartans began the day with a 53-0 shutout win over Penn State Mont-Alto. They followed that up with a 39-12 win over Southern Virginia and finished out their day with a 40-9 victory over Penn College. 


In the opening win over PSU Mont-Alto, the Spartans swept the match including four pin falls and two tech falls to cruise to a 53-0 victory. 


Against Southern Virginia, the Spartans started off with two forfeit wins in the first three weight classes to grab an early 12-3 advantage. They would go on to win five of the final seven matches to grab the 39-12 win. 


In the final win against Penn College, York opened up with two forfeits and four straight wins to take a commanding 32-0 with two wins coming via pin fall. York also picked up wins in two of the final three matches to cruise to the 40-9 victory.

The Spartans picked up their second shutout win with the other coming in the first dual match of the season against Elizabethtown … York outscored their opponents on the day 132-21 with eight pins and four tech falls … Greg Warner picked up three wins on the day all coming via tech fall giving him 24 wins and 10 tech falls on the year … #7 Frankie Krauss also picked up three wins on the day to boost his total to 25 on the year and 85 in his career … Dylan Nuttall and Jesse Rocco were the other Spartans who also picked up three victories on the day.

The Spartans will travel to Messiah College for a dual match in preparation for the Messiah Open the following day. The dual match is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Friday with the Open portion taking place the following morning at 9:00 am.
