Spartan Women Finish Second at Gettysburg Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – The York College women's golf squad finished second at the seven team Gettysburg Invitational at the Hanover Country Club over the weekend. Tournament host Gettysburg captured the team championship as they edged the Spartans by two strokes.

The Spartans shot a two-day total of 651 as they shot a tournament best 323 on Saturday followed by a 328 on Sunday.

Gettysburg won the tournament with a score of 649. The Bullets fired a team total of 327 on Saturday and then a 322 on Sunday to capture the title. Stevenson, who shot a tournament best 315 on Sunday, finished two strokes back of York in third. Dickinson (714) finished fourth while Susquehanna rounded out the top five at 759.

Freshman Jordan Koller paced the Spartans with a fourth-place finish. Koller shot a two-day total of 161 as she placed eight shots back of tournament winner Skylar Frankiewicz from Gettysburg. Koller shot an 81 on Saturday and followed that with an 80 on Sunday. It's the fourth time this season that Koller has been York's top finisher.

Freshman Shelby Tapman was York's next finisher as she placed fifth, one stroke back of Koller. Tapman shot 82 on Saturday and had a two-stroke improvement with an 80 on Sunday. Sophomore Emma Harding was York's third tournament finisher as she registered another top ten with her seventh-place finish. Harding shot a two-day score of 164 with a 78 on Saturday followed by an 86 on Sunday.

Freshman Anna Moore picked up York's fourth top ten finish of the tournament as she carded a tournament total of 166. Moore shot an 82 on Saturday followed by an 84 on Sunday. Sophomore Lindsey Bonner was York's fifth tournament participant as she placed 13th with a score of 172. Bonner shot 88 on Saturday followed by an 84 on Sunday.

The tournament was York's final one before the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference championships that will be held starting Thursday in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Christopher Newport Captains will serve as the tournament host as the three-day championships will be held at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
