CLARKSVILLE, GA. – The York College women's golf squad put together a solid performance at the Piedmont College Spring Invitational in Clarkesville, Georgia. The Spartans finished the two-day tournament in fourth place with a two-day total of 671. The Green and White finished nine strokes back of third-place Huntingdon College.
Methodist won the tournament with a score of 629 while Washington & Lee finished second at 654. Huntington was third at 662. The Spartans shot 333 on Monday followed by a 338 on Tuesday.
The Spartans were paced by freshman Anna Moore as she fired a two-day total of 161 to finish tied for eighth in the 43-player field. Moore shot a 79 on Monday followed by an 82 on Tuesday.
Fellow freshman Jordan Koller was York's next finishers as she tied for tenth with a score of 163. Koller shot an 83 on Monday and improved her score by three on Tuesday with a round of 80. Sophomore Emma Harding was very consistent in her two rounds as she fired matching 86's to finish at 172 to place 22nd.
Freshman Shelby Tapman was the fourth Spartan scorer in the tournament as she placed tied for 24th with a score of 175. Tapman shot an 85 on Monday followed by a 90 on Tuesday.
Freshman Brooke Burnette was York's fifth tournament participant as she finished 37th with a two-day score of 201. Burnette shot 102 on Monday and improved to a 99 on Tuesday.
The Spartans will have a program first this weekend as they host the Inaugural Spartan Invitational at the Country Club of York. The tournament kicks off at 1:00 pm on Saturday and again at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
