GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Both teams got off to a sloppy start with nine turnovers combined in the opening 4:18 of the contest. After the Captains got off to a 6-2 start, the Spartans went on a 12-0 run that included a pair of threes from Logynn Fuller and Kayla Ferris. The Spartans knocked down four triples in the opening frame but nine turnovers supplied plenty of offense for CNU as they took a 22-20 lead after a Madison Howdyshell lay-in at the buzzer.

• York went cold from deep missing on all four attempts in the second period. The Captains ramped up the defense forcing tough shots and four more turnovers as they ended the half on a 16-4 run to take a 45-32 lead into the intermission. The Spartans were held scoreless for 5:17 until a pair of free throws from Debria Hendricks with 23 seconds left in the half stopped the drought.

• The third period was back-and-forth with teams trading blows throughout until the Spartans put the foot down on the defensive end holding the Captains scoreless for the final 4:18 of the period as York slowly clawed back into the game and trailed by just seven with ten minutes left to play.

• The final period was dominated by the Spartans as they outscored CNU 18-4 in the fourth quarter. The Green and White turned the tide as they got hot from deep knocking down a trio of deep threes from Fuller, Alana Bortner, and Hendricks to take a 58-56 lead with 4:25 lead and never looked back. York went 5-for-6 from the line down the stretch to put the game on ice and the Spartans completed the comeback for the upset win 65-58 over the Captains.
