How It Happened

• Elizabethtown would strike first in game two scoring one run on three hits. Brinley Schmidt would single to center field to bring in Taylor Herman in the bottom of the first. The Jays would leave the bases loaded and the one run would be the only one the Jays could muster off of Ginger Lewis on the afternoon.

• After a pair of scoreless frames to start the game, York would load the bases on just one hit to set the table for Taylor Lindsay. Lindsay would launch a grand slam to left center to give York their first lead in either game as they led 4-1 after three.

• The Spartans would add another run in the fourth inning when Joanna Marmo would come in to score on a Natalie Decena infield single. York would add two more runs in the top of the fifth inning on a Blue Jay error as York pushed their advantage out 7-1.

• The Spartans would put two more runs on the board in the sixth on a two-run single by Marmo to put York up 9-1. Lewis would retire the Jays in order in the bottom of the sixth to give York the win via the run rule by a 9-1 score.

This Spartans are now 20-24 all-time against the Blue Jays … this was the second straight win for the Green and White in the series … York hit two more home runs on the day, both by Taylor Lindsay, as they push their already record-setting total out to 35 on the year … York has hit 19 of their 35 homers on the road this season … Lindsay hit her first career grand slam in the win while also improving her home run total to 9 on the year, she has now homered in four straight games … Joanna Marmo set a new school-record for career doubles as her double in game two gave her 40 career two-baggers … Ginger Lewis won her 11th game on the year and is all alone in second for most wins in the CAC … the Spartans are 9-5 on the road this season.
