How It Happened

• York got on the board early as Elle Meyer led off the game with a bunt single and would later steal second base. Alyssa Harhigh would ground one down the left field line just out of the reach of the Aggie third baseman to bring in Meyer and give York an early 1-0 lead. The Aggies would strand the bases loaded in the top of the second as York kept the 1-0 advantage.

• After three scoreless innings, Delaware Valley would tie the game in the top of the fifth. Adina Brucie worked a walk and would then steal second next batter. With two outs, Jamie Stefani helped herself out when she laced a line drive to left center to tie the game up 1-1 bringing in Brucie. The Spartans would load the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the fifth but were unable to bring in any runs after a fielder's choice, strikeout, and pop out to foul territory behind the plate and the game remained tied 1-1 after five.

Taylor Lindsay played hero in the seventh both in the circle and in the batter's box. She retired the Aggies 1-2-3 in the top half of the inning to keep the score tied 1-1. In the bottom of the seventh, Harhigh led off the inning with a single to center field. Lindsay came up and lined a single to center field that skipped by the Aggie defender and rolled all the way to the fence allowing Harhigh to score all the way from first and get the walk-off win for the Spartans 2-1.

• The Spartan offense would erupt in the third inning scoring four runs in the frame. Madison Brumagin would lead the inning off with a single to left field followed by a bunt single by Elle Meyer. Brumagin would come in to score on a single to left by Shyla Pastore and the Spartans led 2-0. On the next pitch, Alyssa Harhigh would launch a three-run homer over the scoreboard to give the Spartans a 5-0 advantage after three innings of play.

• York would continue to add runs in the fourth as they put a three-spot in the frame. Brumagin single to left and scored on an RBI-single by Pastore just like in the third inning. The home run this inning was a two-run shot by Ruffalo and York led 8-0 after four innings.

• Ginger Lewis would retire the Aggies in order in the top of the fifth to complete the one-hit shutout as York won 8-0 in five innings.

This was the first ever meeting between the Spartans and the Aggies … the win was their sixth shutout victory on the season … York hit two more homers on the day giving them 28 as a team and is currently the second most in the conference behind CNU with 39 ... the 28 home runs ties the school record set in 2017 … Alyssa Harhigh hit her 11th home run of the year and is all alone at the top in the CAC and currently in second behind three players for most homers in the country … Mia Ruffalo hit her 7th blast of the year when she hit a two-run shot to centerfield in game two … York struck out 10 times in game one which was the third time they have struck out double digits in a game, York is 2-1 in those games … Joanna Marmo doubled in game two and is now tied for the most doubles in a career in program history with 39 … Ginger Lewis tossed her fourth shutout on the year … with two more stolen bases, Elle Meyer is now second in the CAC with 13 steals … York is 6-4 at home this year despite hitting just .238 at home while they hit .271 on the road … York outscored the Aggies a combined 7-0 in innings three and four in the two games and now are outscoring their opponents 61-13 in those innings this season.
