YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team continued their hot start to the fall campaign as they blanked Elizabethtown College 9-0 on a sunny Sunday in York.
The Spartans improve to 4-0 while the Blue Jays fall to 2-3.
The Spartans got a trio of strong performances from their three doubles squads. The top Spartan doubles tandem of Ben Sentz and Tej Laliwala earned an 8-3 win over Tyler Spinello and Evan Winters in the first doubles match. Justin Rose and Tyler Richard teamed up to earn an 8-0 shutout win over Jeffrey Lapidus and Alec Schneider in the second doubles contest. Jack Leinbach and Michael Spagnoli combined to post an 8-2 win over Brock Culver and Justin Brown in the third doubles match.
Sentz capped a perfect weekend for himself with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Spinello in the first singles match. Laliwala continued his strong start to his collegiate campaign with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Winters in the second singles match. Richard rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 third singles win over Schneider. Rose kept the Spartan express rolling with a 6-3, 6-1 fourth singles win over Lapidus. Josiah Forry was impressive in the fifth singles match as he downed Culver 6-1, 6-0. Leinbach capped the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 sixth singles win over Brown.
Sentz, Laliwala, and Richard remain unbeaten in singles play as they are all 4-0 for the Green and White. Sentz and Laliwala remain perfect in doubles play as they are 4-0 in first doubles.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday, October 6 when they host Catholic in their final home game of the fall. The match is slated for a 12:00 pm start in York.
