Men's Tennis Flies Past Bullets in Non-Conference Play

YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team stayed hot to start the fall campaign as they raced past Gettysburg College 8-1 in non-conference action on a beautiful Saturday in York.

The Spartans improve to 3-0 with the win while the Bullets fall to 0-3 with the loss.

The Greenand White captured all three of the doubles points to jump out to an early lead. Josiah Forry and Jack Leinbach got things started with an 8-3 third doubles win over Alec Shalk and Zach LaChance. Justin Rose and Tyler Richard followed with an 8-3 win of their own in the second doubles match to put York up 2-0. The Spartans' first doubles team of Ben Sentz and Tej Laliwala wrapped up doubles play with an 8-4 win over Patrick Bodovitz and Harrison Brown.

Sentz kicked off singles play as he dispatched Brown 6-0, 6-2 in the first singles match up. Laliwala pushed the Spartan lead to 5-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bodovitz in the second singles contest. Richard wrapped up the first group of singles matches with a 6-2, 6-1 third singles win over LaChance.

Rose earned his first singles win of the year as he cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 fourth singles win over Max Levy. Leinbach earned his first collegiate singles win in the sixth singles match as he posted a 6-0, 6-4 win over Matt Rau. The Bullets spoiled the shutout in the final match of the day as Shalk earned a three-set win over Forry in the fifth singles match.

Sentz, Laliwala, and Richard are all now 3-0 in singles play while Sentz znd Laliwala are a combined 3-0 in first doubles competition.

The Spartans return to action on Sunday morning when they host Elizabethtown College in a non-conference contest. The match is slated for a 10:00 am start at the Spartan Tennis Centre.
