Spartan Men Drop CAC Opener at Nationally Ranked CNU

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The York College men's tennis squad opened their Capital Athletic Conference campaign with a 9-0 loss to nationally ranked Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Virginia.

The Captains improve to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the Capital Athletic Conference. The Spartans fall to 6-4 overall and 0-1 in the league.

The Captains swept the three doubles points 8-0, 8-2, and 8-1. The Spartans second doubles team of Lukas Olson and Josiah Forry were able to take two points from their Captain opponents.

The Captains played well in the singles matches as they earned three match wins 6-0, 6-0. Two of the other matches were 6-0, 6-1 while Justin Rose was able to win a pair of games in the sixth singles match.

York returns to action on Thursday afternoon as they travel to Penn State Harrisburg to face the Lions in a Capital Athletic Conference match. The match is slated for a 3:30 pm start in Middletown.
