NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The York College men's tennis squad opened their Capital Athletic Conference campaign with a 9-0 loss to nationally ranked Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Virginia.
The Captains improve to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the Capital Athletic Conference. The Spartans fall to 6-4 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Captains played well in the singles matches as they earned three match wins 6-0, 6-0. Two of the other matches were 6-0, 6-1 while Justin Rose was able to win a pair of games in the sixth singles match.
York returns to action on Thursday afternoon as they travel to Penn State Harrisburg to face the Lions in a Capital Athletic Conference match. The match is slated for a 3:30 pm start in Middletown.
