BUENA VISTA, VA – The York College men's tennis squad saw their season come to an end in the opening round of the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Tournament as Southern Virginia blanked the Spartans 5-0 in a match played to decision on Saturday in Buena Vista, Virginia.

The Spartan season comes to a close with a record of 8-10 overall. The Knights improve to 17-4 as they advance to face top seeded Mary Washington in the CAC semifinals on Wednesday.

The Knights began the match by sweeping the three doubles points. Tanner O'Brien and Andrew Blonquist combined to earn an 8-4 first doubles win over Sam Innerst and Devin Lehigh. Paul Monson and Ben Spencer teamed up to earn an 8-0 second doubles win over Ben Sentz and Sam Price. T.J. Snelson and Ove Cordes earned an 8-1 third doubles win over Justin Rose and Tyler Richard.

The Knights needed just two singles results to finish the match. O'Brien earned a 6-1, 6-2 third singles win over Lehigh for one of those two points. The other win for SVU came from Zac Bowers as he bested Price 6-1, 6-3 in the sixth singles match.

The loss closes out the stellar career of Devin Lehigh as he is York's lone senior. Lehigh finishes his Spartan career with 20 singles victories and 19 doubles wins to his credit.

The remainder of the Spartan lineup is set to return for the 2018-19 campaign.
