YORK, PA – The Spartan swimming team is sending two swimmers to nationals for the first time in school history. Sophomore Keven Stahl and junior Justine Wantz will be competing at the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The championships will take place March 20-23.
Stahl will make his second national championship appearance as the sophomore earned All-American honors in the 1650 freestyle as a freshman a year ago becoming just the second York College men's swimmer to earn All-American honors in school history. Stahl will be competing in the 500 freestyle as well as the 400 IM at this year's championships. Stahl comes in to nationals after 24 individual wins as well as three victories at the Capital Athletic Conference championships a few weeks ago.
Wantz becomes the first York College female swimmer to go to the national championships in program history. Wantz will be competing in three events, the 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and 200 backstroke. Wantz had a strong junior campaign with 11 individual victories as well as four relay wins on the year. At the CAC championships, Wantz won three titles and now has five CAC titles on her resume.
The two combined for six CAC championships and were CAC swimmers of the week a combined five times.
