ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College men's swim squad concluded a successful trip to the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference championships on Sunday. The Spartans finished second at the four-day championships as they accumulated 651 points. Mary Washington won their 19th consecutive CAC championships as they totaled 1064.5 points. Salisbury finished third followed by Frostburg State and St. Mary's.
The Spartans got two more wins as Keven Stahl defended his 1650 freestyle championships with ease as he won the race by over 40 seconds. Jesse Tate earned his second title of the championships as he won the 200 butterfly.

Sophomore Keven Stahl finished the championships with another strong showing in the 1650 free as he won the event by over 40 seconds with his meet and conference record time of 15:44.28 as he earned another B cut … Stahl broke his own record by just over three seconds … Stahl finished his championships with three more individual title as he now has six individual championships for his career … Stahl finished the year with a team-leading 24 individual wins … Jesse Tate picked up his second win of the championships on Sunday as he won the 200 butterfly … Tate had won the 200 IM on Friday and now has four CAC individual championships for his Spartan career … York finished the championships with five first place finishes, two second place finishers and two third place swimmers … the Spartans earned five second place finishes in the relay races.
The championship meet closes out the season for the Spartans but sophomore Keven Stahl should have an opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championship for the second straight year. The official invitations for the championships will be extended on March 6. The championships will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina from March 20-23. Currently, Stahl's championship time in the 1650 free is good enough to place 11th in the current NCAA Division III standings.
