YORK, PA – York College head swimming coach Greg Doyle is proud to announce the York College Swimming Week of Giving will start on Monday, October 16 and run through the Spartans' first meet of the year on Saturday, October 21.
The Swimming Week of Giving allows Spartan alums, parents, fans and community members to make a financial impact on the men's and women's swimming program.
"We are looking forward to continuing to build a strong relationship with our alumni, our families and our fans from coast to coast," says Doyle. "The support we receive is tremendous and truly does provide one of the best student-athlete experiences. We are asking our supporters to join us in taking the program to new heights with student-athlete recruitment and in establishing a tradition of excellence."
Doyle said the program will use the funds raised to increase the swimming recruiting budget, enhanced training tools and enhancing the current student-athletes swim team experience.
The Spartans are excited about the upcoming season with a strong recruiting class after the Green and White finished second in the Capital Athletic Conference championships on both the men's and women's side in 2017.
"We have a strong team on both sides this year and I expect great things from this group of swimmers," says Doyle. "I believe we have the potential to send some athletes to nationals and that is really the next step in the progression of our program."
The Swimming Week of Giving is conducted in conjunction with the Spartan Advance, York College's official athletic booster club. Spartan Advance boasts over 900 members and is a driving force in our efforts to rise above and to build and maintain a thriving, contemporary intercollegiate athletic program, the Spartan Advance provides enhancements to our recruiting, travel and equipment budgets, and contributes to the support of additional coaching positions.
