Spartan Men's Lacrosse Cruises to Sixth Straight Win

SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College men's lacrosse team remained perfect on the season as they downed Susquehanna 12-4 in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon in Selinsgrove, PA. The sixth ranked Spartans improve to 6-0 with the win as the defense has been outstanding the last two games, allowing a combined 10 goals in 120 minutes of action.

How It Happened

• The Spartans struck opened the scoring 1:17 into the game as Brendan McGrath scored off a pass from fellow senior Thomas Pfeiffer to give York the early advantage. Jake Hvazda made it 2-0 with 8:03 left in the period with his fourth goal of the year. The River Hawks got a Jack Donnelly man-up goal to slice the Spartan lead in half. Hunter Davis closed out the first quarter scoring with a goal 39 seconds after the Donnelly score to give York a 3-1 lead at the quarter break.

• York blew the game wide open in the second period as the defense shut Susquehanna out while the offense went to work and put six goals on the board to push the lead to 9-1. Davis scored three of the Spartans' six goals in the period while McGrath had a pair and Pfeiffer had the other during the explosive second quarter. York outshot Susquehanna 16-5 in the quarter while York also forced seven River Hawk turnovers.

• Susquehanna halted the Spartan run with a pair of third quarter goals before Brendan O'Sullivan scored for the Spartans with 4:44 left in the third.

• York scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter as Ethan Locker and Wyatt Barnett each got their first goals of the year for the Green and White. Preston Ouellette got the final goal of the game to provide for York's final eight goal margin of victory.
