Spartans Set to Host Eagles in Thursday's CAC Semifinals

YORK, PA – The York College men's team is set to host the third-seeded University of Mary Washington Eagles on Thursday night in the semifinal round of the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference tournament.

The Spartans and Eagles split their two meetings this year with the home team being victorious in both games. The Spartans advanced to the semifinals thanks to a brilliant defensive performance in their 76-47 win over St. Mary's in the quarterfinals. Mary Washington earned their ticket to the semifinals thanks to a 65-51 win over Penn State Harrisburg.

Spartans and the Eagles in the CAC Tournament

The Spartans enter tonight's Capital Athletic Conference semifinals with a record of 4-2 against Mary Washington in the conference tournament … the last time the Spartans and Eagles met in the CAC tournament was the 2012 championship game as York won the title with a 59-51 win in Fredericksburg … York is 2-0 in York in the tournament against the Eagles while they are 2-2 in Fredericksburg … the Spartans are 1-1 against the Eagles in the semifinal round of the tournament … York is 6-9 all-time in the CAC semifinal round … York is 25-21 all-time in the CAC Tournament.

 

Spartan Notes

The Spartans have won a season-high nine straight games … York is now 12-1 overall at Wolf Gym this season including 8-0 against CAC opponents … the Spartans are 24-3 at home over the last two years including 16-1 in the CAC … the Spartans and Eagles split their two games this year as UMW won 74-62 at Fredericksburg on January 19 while the Spartans edged the Eagles 76-74 last Saturday in the regular season finale … the Spartans earned their 20th win of the season on Tuesday night … it's the second time in school history that the Spartans have won at least 20 games in back-to-back season (2004-05 and 2005-06) … York has reached 20 wins six times in 50 seasons of York College basketball … the Spartans hold a 37-36 lead in the all-time series against the Eagles … senior Jason Bady has been named the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week three times this year including the last two weeks in a row … Bady leads the league in free throw's made per game at 5.5 while he is attempting 6.8 free throws per game … Bady leads the league in scoring and is fourth in the league in rebounding … junior Jared Wagner leads the CAC in steals per game ... the CAC is well represented in the regional rankings as Christopher Newport is one, York is three, Salisbury is four and Mary Washington is fifth.
