How It Happened
• The game was much like most of York's trips to Buena Vista, physical and low scoring. The scoring was low and possessions extended in the early going of the game. The game was tied at 11 just under nine minutes into the game. The Spartans ripped off an 8-2 spurt to take a 19-13 lead on a Ryan Kendra three with 9:43 left in the half.
• The Spartans maintained the lead until the Knights went on a quick 5-0 run to take a 28-27 lead with 2:55 remaining. The Green and White scored four of the final six points of the half to take a 31-30 lead to the break.
• The Spartans were unable to break away from the Knights in the early stages of the second half. The York lead bounced between one and six points in the opening ten minutes of half before the Spartans put together a 9-0 run to take a 54-44 lead with 8:43 left in the game.
• The Spartans pushed the lead to a game-high 11 points on a Jason Bady lay-up with 6:03 left. However, that would be the biggest lead as the chippy Knights refused to go away. York led 67-57 with under three minutes left. The Knights scored on their next two possessions to cut York's lead to six but the Spartans would hold SVU there as YCP hit three of four from the free throw line in the final minute to earn the nine point victory.
