How It Happened:

• The Spartans opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Hannah Huffman fired a shot on goal that was saved by Eagle goalie Jillian Lawrence. Huffman collected the rebound and banged home a second shot that Lawrence couldn't stop to give York the early lead. The goal was Huffman's sixth of the year.

• The Green and White added to the lead in the second quarter of play. York had a flurry of shots starting with a Dana Meehling shot that was saved by Lawrence. Abby Piotrowski followed that with a shot of her own on the rebound but that too was saved by Lawrence. York got a third shot shortly after as Meghan Heary hit the post. Piotrowski followed Heary's shot with a shot and goal as the Spartans finally put one home to take a 2-0 lead with 3:30 left in the half. The Spartans outshot the Eagles 7-1 in the second quarter but York was only able to put one of those shots home.

• The Eagles cut the Spartan lead in half as Lauren Hopkins scored 3:05 into the third quarter. York responded near the end of the quarter as Piotrowski got her second goal of the day off another rebound. This time Meehling fired a shot that was saved by Lawrence only to have Piotrowski score off the rebound.

• The Eagles once again cut into the Spartan lead as Jess Smith found the back of the cage with 4:06 left in regulation. The Spartans answered 2:20 later as Piotrowski took a corner and hit Kristin Varilla with a pass that the fellow freshman finished her fifth goal of the year.
