YORK, PA - York College junior forward Greta Plappert has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Plappert began her week with two goals against #8 Salisbury as the Spartans dropped a 4-3 decision to the Sea Gulls. Plappert scored the first two goals for the Spartans as York trailed 3-0 in the second half. Plappert's two goals spurred a Spartan comeback that came up just short against the Sea Gulls.
Plappert then had an even bigger day on the road at Mary Washington as she notched a hat-trick for the Spartans as they earned a hard-fought 4-3 win. Plappert opened the scoring with a goal just under 10 minutes into the game. Mary Washington scored two straight only to have Plappert score early in the second half to tie the game at two. She then gave the Spartans a short-lived lead with just under 24 minutes left in the game.
For the week, Plappert scored five goals for 10 points. She was 2-for-2 in penalty strokes for the week.
For the season, Plappert has 31 points on 13 goals and five assists. She has two game-winning goals and is 3-for-3 in penalty strokes for the year.
