YORK, PA – The York College field hockey team hosts Salisbury University on Wednesday, October 18th at Kinsley Field in a matchup of two top-20 programs. There will be more at stake, though, as the Capital Athletic Conference contest will serve as the Spartans Play 4 The Cure event to raise money for cancer awareness.
In partnering with the women's soccer team and the York College bookstore, students, fans and anyone willing to lend a helping hand will have numerous avenues to donate.
First, online donations are currently being accepted through the National Foundation of Cancer Research, in the name of the York College field hockey program, here.
Donations can also be made at the games – women's soccer hosts Wesley at 4:30 before the field hockey showdown – on Wednesday. Furthermore, "Go Pink or Go Home" t-shirts are available for purchase both at the games and online, through the bookstore.
The Spartans enter the game ranked No. 16 in the NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll, jumping two spots from last week after defeating Bridgewater (Va.) and Mary Washington. York sits 11-2 and 3-0 in CAC play, riding a six-game win streak and a 7-0 record at Kinsley Field. In addition to taking on No. 8 Salisbury this week, the Green and White travel to No. 5 Christopher Newport on Saturday.
