YORK, PA. – The York College baseball team concluded their regular season schedule with a 5-2 loss against Messiah in York on a cloudy Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened:

• After three scoreless innings to start the game as the Spartans were held hitless through those three frames, Garrett Southern would lead off the bottom of the fourth with a double to right field to get things going for York. He would move to third on a single by Craig Wiley and then Southern would score on an error on a failed pickoff attempt to put York ahead 1-0 after four.

• Messiah would get on the board in a big way in the top of the fifth innings, scoring five runs without recording a single hit in the inning taking advantage of six walks, a hit-by-pitch, and three Spartan errors. Trent Culver and Chris Larose would pick up RBIs on back-to-back bases-loaded walks to take the lead with three more runs coming in on a pair of Spartan errors to take a 5-1 lead over the Green and White.

• York would get one run back in the bottom of the sixth inning when Wiley doubled to left field and then came in to score on a single through the left side by Grant Oberholtzer to cut the deficit to three. The Spartans would be held to just one hit over the final three innings as Luke Blasick picked up a six-out save for the Falcons as York fell 5-2 in their regular season finale.
