Kilpatrick, Barry Lead Spartans By Bobcats

FROSTBURG, MD. – The Spartan baseball team completed their suspended series with Frostburg with a resounding 14-3 victory over the Bobcats on Monday afternoon led by a grand slam by Justin Kilpatrick and a pair of homers by Jack Barry.

How It Happened:

Jack Barry would get the Spartans on the board in the first inning singling to right center to bring in Grant Oberholtzer who led off the game with a walk. Barry would hit one of his two home runs in the top of the third inning to put York up 2-0 after three innings.

• The Spartans would extend their lead in the fourth recording three hits capped by a grand slam by Justin Kilpatrick. A Jimmy Wiegers double and Kilpatrick single in the fifth inning would add three more runs as the Green and White led 9-0. The Bobcats would finally get on the board with a Chris Roosevelt single to left field and the Spartans led 9-1 after five.

• York would add a pair of runs in the sixth on two hits while taking advantage of two Bobcat errors. Both runs were unearned in the inning. Quin Ambeault for Frostburg would double in the bottom of the sixth inning putting the score at 11-3 with three innings to play.

• Barry would launch his second homer of the game in the eighth inning and Oberholtzer would add an RBI-double in the ninth as York cruised to a 14-3 victory over Frostburg.

Notes: The Spartans are now 42-42 all-time against Frostburg State … the Spartans extend their winning streak to seven games … the average margin of victory over their streak is just under eight runs per game … the three home runs for the Spartans were the most they hit since they hit four against Salisbury on April 12 … York's 14 strikeouts were the most in a game this season and just the fourth time York has struck out ten or more times … York made zero errors for the second time in three games and have made just two errors in their last four … Jack Barry hit two home runs in the win and now has six on the season, tied for second most on the team with Grant OberholtzerRory Costello picked up his first win as a starter while also going a career-long 6.0 innings … Justin Kilpatrick launched his first career grand slam and has homered in back-to-back games … he also tied his career-high with six RBI … the Spartans are 8-6 on the road this season.
