YORK, PA. – Freshman shortstop Austin Denlinger received Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors announced by the league office on Monday.
Denlinger led the Spartans offensively in a week where the Green and White went 5-0 and 3-0 in conference play. He hit .474 going 9-for-19 with a triple and a pair of home runs. He also drove in eight runs, scored ten, and stole three bases on the week for the Spartans.
Denlinger began the week with a 2-for-4 outing against Messiah on Monday. He also set a career-high with four runs scored and two stolen bases. Denlinger also drove in a pair of runs in the 14-5 win over the Falcons. Two days later, Denlinger set more career marks with a career-high tying four hits, four runs, while also smashing his first career home run. Denlinger went 4-for-5, scored four runs, drove in two, and picked up a triple to go with his homer in the 20-6 victory over Stevenson.
Over the weekend, Denlinger picked up three hits in the conference three-game series with Mary Washington. Denlinger hit his second homer in three games over the series while also driving in four runs and scoring two as the Spartans swept the Eagles outscoring them 23-8 over the three contests.
On the season, Denlinger is hitting .380 with a pair of homers, 23 RBI, and 39 runs scored. He also has stolen 11 bases. Denlinger leads the Spartans with his .380 average, 49 hits, and 11 doubles.
