The Spartans would add another run in the inning when Jack Barry doubled and scored on an RBI-groundout by Jimmy Wiegers to put York up 3-0 after one.

• The Spartans would add three more runs in the second inning to double their lead. Brandon White would lace a double to right-center field to clear the bases scoring three runs. Craig Wiley singled to center, Oberholtzer was hit by a pitch, and Denlinger also singled to load the bases for White as York led 6-0 after just two innings.

• York would add another run in the seventh taking advantage of an Eagle error. Wiegers would score from second on an errant throw and the Green and White extended their lead to 7-0.

How It Happened:

• York would get on the board in the first inning in game to as well starting with a lead-off base hit by Grant Oberholtzer. He would later steal second and advance to third on a wild pitch. Austin Denlinger would hit a fly ball in foul territory down the right field line that would be caught for a sacrifice fly as Oberholtzer came in to score giving York the early 1-0 advantage.

• The Eagle would threaten in the top of the fourth putting runners on second and third with nobody out in the inning. Brandon Haggerty would record a strikeout followed by some poor Eagle baserunning and strong Spartan defense to turn the unconventional 5-3-2 double play to get out of the inning unscathed.

• York would then add three runs in the bottom half of the fourth to put some space between them and the Eagles. Jimmy Wiegers would work a two-out walk and then steal second base. Wiegers would then come in to score on a single by Garrett Southern as York now led 2-0. On the next pitch, Justin Kilpatrick would blast a line-drive two-run homer to right field to push the lead out to four.

• York would tack on another run, again with two outs, as Brandon White worked a two-out walk followed by a single through the right side by Luke Turner. An Eagle throwing error would result in White scoring all the way from first and York now led 5-0 after five innings.

• The Eagles would break an 18 innings scoreless streak against the Spartans in the eighth when Kevin France doubled to deep center field to bring home David Lambertson. The Spartans would answer in the bottom half of the eighth with three runs of their own. Wiegers would score on an Eagle error to get the run back that the Eagles scored followed by a two-run triple by Oberholtzer down the right field line as York pushed their lead out to 8-1 headed into the final frame.

• Mary Washington would make a late run plating three runs in the ninth inning on four hits but the run would stop there as the Spartans completed the three-game sweep with an 8-4 victory.
