GRANTHAM, PA – The York College baseball squad kept rolling in their non-conference schedule as the Spartan offense banged out 12 hits en route to a 14-5 win over Messiah College on a very windy Monday afternoon in Grantham, PA.
The Spartans improve to 10-3 in non-conference games as they are on the cusp of winning 20 games for the second straight year.

How It Happened:
• The Spartans got run in the first on a balk as Austin Denlinger scored after reaching on a fielder's choice, stealing second and moving to third on a wild pitch. The Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the second on a Colt Price RBI double.
• The Green and White struck for a trio of runs in the top of the third as they loaded the bases after the Falcons retired the first two hitters of the inning. Luke Turner had an infield single to score a run. Jimmy Wiegers was hit by a pitch to drive in the second run of the inning and then the Spartans scored the third run of the inning on a balk, the second run-scoring balk of the game. Messiah answered with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the third to cut the Spartan lead to 4-3. The Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with a Jimmy Kustra RBI triple.
• York took the lead for good in the fifth as Denlinger singled to start the inning. He moved to third on a Jack Barry single to left and scored on a wild pitch. The Spartans blew the game open in the sixth inning as they plated five runs in the sixth inning. Grant Oberholtzer had an RBI fielder's choice to start the scoring. Denlinger scored a second run with an RBI single. Barry then plated a pair with double to right center. Brandon White scored the final run of the inning with an RBI double down the left field line to score Barry and put the Spartans up 10-4.
• The Falcons added a single run in the bottom of the sixth, cutting York's lead to five. The Spartans put the game away with four runs in the ninth to provide for the final margin of victory.

The Spartans swept both games from the Falcons this year and now hold a 43-8 advantage in the all-time series … York reached double figures in runs for the 11th time during the year and for the second straight game … York drew six walks for the second straight game … freshman Austin Denlinger set a new career-high with his four runs scored … he also tied his career-high with two stolen bases in the win … Denlinger now has 10 stolen bases as he is tied for sixth in the CAC … Denlinger is also tied for second in the CAC with 11 doubles and tied for fourth in total hits with 42 … freshman Robert Chaney picked up his first career win as he tossed a career-high 5.1 innings while his three strikeouts were also a career-high … sophomore Jake Herr tossed a career-high 3.2 innings as he earned his first career save in the game … his six strikeouts were also a career-high … senior Grant Oberholtzer is one hit away from reaching 150 knocks for his career ... York has now won four straight in non-conference action.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Stevenson University to face the Mustangs in a non-conference contest. The first pitch in Owings Mills is set for 3:30 pm.
