YORK, PA - York College is proud to announce that sophomore field hockey forward Lindsay Nye (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending on September 11.
Nye had a week to remember in leading the Spartans to a pair of overtime road wins this past week.
Nye began her week with a historical performance as she scored all five York goals in the Spartans' 5-4 overtime win at Dickinson College. With the Spartans trailing 2-0 just 15 minutes into the game, Nye tied the game with a pair of goals prior to the half. After Dickinson took a 3-2 lead, Nye scored two goals just over six minutes apart to give York a 4-3 lead. Dickinson tied the game with five minutes left but Nye scored 1:05 into overtime for the game-winning goal. Nye's five goals broke the previous Spartan school record of four which was held by three different players including current assistant coach Jayme Goldkind.
In Saturday's win at Shenandoah, Nye scored 1:40 into overtime to lift the Spartans to the 3-2 win.
For the week, Nye had six goals on 14 shots with all 14 of her attempts coming on goal. She leads the Spartans in scoring with 14 points on six goals and two assists.
