NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The York College women's cross country squad put together a solid effort at the Christopher Newport Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, VA. The Spartans finished third of 12 teams at the race. York totaled 93 points in the meet.
The Spartans were led by junior Jess Miller (Dauphin, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) as she clocked in with a time of 22:51.7, just 0.5 seconds back of sixth.
Jenna Roberts (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) was York's next finisher as she placed 30th with a time of 24:33.2. Teammate Caroline DeLany (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora), was two spots behind Roberts, as she placed 32nd, finishing with a time of 24:39.5. Alicia Dillman (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) was right behind DeLany as she was 33rd with a time of 24:46.4.
Kathleen Cannon (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) rounded out York's top five finishers, as she placed 41st out of 118 runners, completing the race in a time of 25:23.1.
The Spartans return to action in two weeks when they travel to Salisbury University to participate in the 2013 Capital Athletic Conference championships at Winter Park Place. The championship is set for an 11:00 am start.
