York Competes in Long Course at Dickinson Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa. – The York College women's cross country team competed at the Dickinson Long and Short Invitational Saturday in hosted by Dickinson College. The Spartans ran only the long course portion of the event, finishing tenth overall out of 21 schools in the long course.

Senior Mandy Parshall was the first Spartan finisher of the day, finishing the course in 25:22. Parshall's time allotted her a 40th-place overall finish out of the 178 competitors. Notably, Parshall was the first Capital Athletic Conference runner to finish the course, one second ahead of Frostburg's Elizabeth Patron.

"Mandy was focused and comfortable," Spartan head coach Erick Camodeca said. "(She) led the way for the CAC and us."

Misty Parshall crossed the line as the second Green and White runner, notching a 54th-place time of 25:49 while Jess Miller's 26:18 provided her with 72nd-place.

Emily Abell and Rachel Berninger also scored for the Spartan squad as they posted times of 26:39 and 27:32, respectively.

"Emily and Jess," Camodeca noted, "are starting to feel comfortable racing at this level.

Victoria Hall (27:53) and Abby Peller (28:50) also competed at the Dickinson event.

With the next week off from competition, the Spartans return to action on Saturday, October 8. York travels to Center Valley, PA for the Pre-Regional Meet hosted by DeSales University. Start time is slated for 10:30 am.
