Wilson Leads Spartans; York Takes Fifth
TOWSON, Md. – The York College women's cross country team
competed at the Goucher College Classic Saturday morning in Towson,
Md. The Spartans took fifth out of the ten teams in attendance,
registering 116 points. Susquehanna collected first-place as a team
with 42 points.
Tuesday
Wilson, an outstanding sophomore, recorded the Green and
White's best finish of the race with a 17th-place finish out of 105
participants. Wilson's 26:14.30 not only enabled her to land in the
top-20 but also proved the first time in her career that she has
paced the Spartan squad in a traditional cross country race. (She
and Spartan men's runner Ryan Janes combined to come in first for
the Spartans at a relay-style dual-meet against Goucher last
season.)
Corie
Thompson and Nicole
Danielewicz notched 20th and 21st, respectively. Thompson
registered a 26:31.80 while Danielewicz, who ran a tremendous race
in her own right, finished with a 26:33.40.
Taking 27th on the day, senior standout Melody Parshall
traversed the 6,000-meter course in 26:45.00.
Fellow senior Laura Colantuono
came in 44th for the Green and White, notching a 27:50.70.
Taking next week off from competition, the Spartans return to
racing action on Saturday, October 23. York travels to Lancaster
County Central Park to compete in the Battle of the Buggy
Invitational, which is slated for a 10:00 am start.
