READING, PA – The York College women’s cross country squad posted their second invitational championship of the year as they won the Albright College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Reading, PA. The Spartans finished the event with 41 points followed by Lincoln University at 54 points and Penn College at 87 points.
The Spartans were paced by senior Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) as she placed third with a time of 26:41.18. It is her fourth top-10 finish of the year as she continues to have an outstanding final year in the Green and White.
Sophomore Corie Thompson (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) made a return from injury to finish fourth in the 55-runner field. Thompson recorded a time of 27:17.28 as her return was a successful one. She placed seventh at the McDaniel Green Terror Invitational in her only other appearance for the season.
Junior Mary Riley (Brookeville, Md./Stone Ridge) was the third Spartan finisher to cross the finish line as she placed ninth with a time of 28:08.50. Freshman Danielle Patton (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) was York’s fourth finisher as she placed 15th with a time of 29:14.25. Fellow freshman Chelsea McCracken (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) finished next for York as she clocked in with a time of 29:42.31, good for a 19th place finish. Terah Bloemer (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) was the sixth Spartan to finish in the top 20 as she recorded a time of 30:16.91.
The Spartans return to action on October 10 when they compete at the Goucher Classic in Towson, MD. The action is slated to kick off at 10:30 am.
