Spartans Finish Seventh at Belmont Cross Country Classic
PHILADELPHIA, PA-The York College women’s
cross country squad placed seventh of 17 teams at Saturday’s
Belmont Cross Country Classic in Philadelphia, PA. The Spartans
accumulated 209 points to register the seventh place finish.
The Spartans were paced by the reigning CAC Women’s
Runner-of-the-Week Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Home
schooled) as she placed eighth with a time of 20:35.37.
Parshall has been York’s top finisher in all of their
invitationals for the year.
Freshman Corrie Thompson (Ambler,
Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was the second Spartan to cross the
finish line, as she placed 21st with a time of 21:29.79. Sophomore
Liz Dende (Hanover, Pa./South Western) was the
third Spartan to complete the race as she registered a time of
23:37.34.
Sophomores Laura Colantuono (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland
Valley) and Claudia Hess (Reinholds,
Pa./Cocalico) were the final two scorers for the Spartans.
Colantuono placed 77th with a time of 24:06.39 while Hess finished
85th with a time of 24:30.01.
The Spartans travel to the Goucher Invitational on Saturday,
October 4 in Towson, MD. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00
am.
