Parshall and Thompson Lead York to Second-Place Finish

YORK, PA – The York College women’s cross country squad posted a second-place finish at the 2008 Spartan Invitational held at nearby John Rudy Park, as seven other schools joined the green and white for the race. Four Spartans recorded top-25 finishes including a pair of top-fives.

Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) ran the Spartans best time of the invitational as her 20:39.11 earned her a fourth-place finish. Teammate Corie Thompson (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) gave an impressive performance, coming in fifth with a time of 20:55.67.

Mary Riley (Brookeville, Md./Stone Ridge) backed up last week’s strong performance with a time of 23:13.33, good for 24th out of 61 runners. Laura Colantuono (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) placed just one spot behind Riley, crossing the finish line at 23:16.38.

York will look to continue their solid 2008 campaign next weekend as the green and white travel to Randor, Pa. for the Cabrini Invitational. The race is slated to begin at 10:30 am.
