Parshall, Thompson Compete at NCAA Regionals
WAYNESBURG, PA – A pair York College
women’s cross country runners competed at the NCAA Mideast
Regional Meet Saturday at Waynesburg University in the southwestern
portion of Pennsylvania. Over 300 runners represented numerous
institutions throughout the region for the regional meet.
Junior Melody Parshall (Dover,
Pa./Homeschooled), a 2008 first-team All-Capital Athletic
Conference performer, was York’s top finisher traversing the
course in 24:42. Parshall’s time landed her in 75th place for
the meet as she averaged a pace of 6:38.
Freshman standout Corie Thompson
(Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), who landed on the
second-team All-CAC squad and was named the league’s
Rookie-of-the-Year at the CAC Championship two weeks ago,
registered 130th place in the meet. Thompson’s 6:52 average
pace resulted in a finishing time of 25:35.
York’s final race of the 2008
season means the Spartans now set their sights on next season. With
no seniors on this year’s roster, the green and white are set
to sport plenty of experience and talent in their 2009 lineup.
