ANNVILLE, PA – The York College women’s cross country team took an eighth-place finish at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational Saturday. The Spartans first meet of the season saw three runners land in top-75.
Sophomore Melody Parshall’s (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) time of 21:20.79 earned her a 25th-place finish. Parshall, who was the Capital Athletic Conference’s Rookie-of-the-Year in 2007, clocked the Spartans’ best time at the LVC Invitational.
Freshman Corie Thompson (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was the 52nd runner to cross the line, coming in with a time of 22:30.38. Sophomore Mary Riley (Brookeville, Md./Stone Ridge) was the third York runner in the top-75 when she placed 73rd with a time of 23:30.96.
The trio of sophomore Laura Colantuono (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley), sophomore Liz Dende (Hanover, Pa./South Western), and junior Terah Bloemer (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) took 99th, 100th, and 101st respectively with times of 24:48.51, 24:56.75, and 24:57.96. Sophomore Ally Montello (Adamstown, Md. /Urbana) grabbed 103rd with a time of 25:01.37.
A total of 13 teams and 144 runners competed at the LVC
The green and white return to action next Saturday, September 13. The Spartans will travel to McDaniel College in Westminster, Md. for the Green Terror Challenge, which is slated to begin at 9:40 am.
