FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The York College
women’s cross country squad finished in third-place at the
Capital Athletic Conference Championships Saturday, effectively
defending their third spot from one year ago.
A pair of Spartans took home All-CAC
accolades as Melody Parshall (Dover,
Pa./Homeschooled) finished sixth and Corie
Thompson (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) took ninth.
Parshall’s 24:32.60 resulted in sixth-place spot and her
second consecutive all-league first-team honor.
Thompson’s time of 24:52.50 gave her a
second-team All-CAC placement and conference Rookie-of-the-Year
accolades. Thompson’s Rookie-of-the-Year award is
York’s second in as many seasons, as Parshall was named the
league’s top newcomer in 2007.
Sophomore Laura Colantuono
(Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was the Spartans’
third finisher, registering a time of 27:06.90 to place 26th at the
championships.
Salisbury took the overall team
championship, edging out Mary Washington by a mere two points. Mary
Washington’s Hayley Sullivan captured first with a time of
22:53.30.
York is slated to compete at the NCAA
Division III Mid-East Regional on November 15 in Waynesboro, Pa.
The meet is set to begin at 11:00 am.
