YORK, PA-The York College women’s cross country squad finished fourth of eight teams at the 2007 Spartan Invitational at John Rudy County Park in York, PA on a balmy Saturday morning. The Spartans finished with 99 points in the event. Catholic University won the event with 45 points. Albright finished second with 71 points while Goucher placed third with 74 points. There were 64 runners that participated in the event.
Sophomore Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) led the green and white as she placed eighth with a time of 21:00.09. Junior Kristen Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) was the next Spartan to cross the finish line as she placed 16th with a time of 22:20.86. Freshman Mary Riley (Brookeville, Md./Stone Ridge) was the third Spartan to finish the event as she notched a time of 22:50.45, good for a 22nd place finish. Junior Corey Hawks (Aberdeen, Md./Harford Tech) crossed the line in a time of 23:40.83 which placed her in 27th. Sophomore Terah Bloemer (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) rounded out the Spartans’ top five as she placed 31st with a time of 23:57.03.
The Spartans return to action on Friday at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh College. The meet begins at 2:00 pm.
