ANNVILLE, PA-The York College women’s cross country squad finished sixth out of nine full teams as the Lebanon Valley Invitational on a sunny and warm Saturday in Annville, PA. The Spartans finished with 181 total points. Messiah won the team title with 26 points. There were 94 total participants in the event.
The Spartans received a strong effort from sophomore Melody Parshall (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) as she finished 21st with a time of 22:27.37. The Spartans had a sizable gap until their next finisher as junior Kristen Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) was the next Spartan to cross the finish line as she placed 49th with a time of 24:49.68. Junior Corey Hawks (Aberdeen, Md./Harford Tech) followed Hursey in 55th place as she clocked in with a time of 25:27.69. Sophomore Terah Bloemer (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) finished five places back of Hawks, notching a 60th place finish with a time of 26:22.12. Freshman Claudia Hess (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) was the fifth Spartan finisher as she placed 67th with a time of 27:13.69.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they travel to the McDaniel College Invitational. The event is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 am.
