Head Volleyball Coach


Sue DuMars enters her 12th season looking to reap the rewards of a 2006 season that saw a very young Spartan team earn 22 wins in 33 matches. DuMars, a three-time CAC Coach-of-the-Year, earned the 2003 Capital Athletic Conference Coach-of-the-Year as she led the Spartans to a 26-11 record and an appearance in the CAC championship game. The Spartans finished tied for first in the CAC.

In 2006, the Spartans, who did not have a senior on the squad, finished tied for fourth in the CAC. DuMars picked up her 200th career win on October 28 when the Spartans downed Moravian College, 3-2.

DuMars ranks first on the all-time Spartan coaching wins list with 200 victories in her eleven seasons at the helm of the program. She surpassed Don Stabler’s school record of 90 wins on September 22, 2001, when the Spartans defeated St. Mary’s College. DuMars owns an overall record of 200-178.

DuMars has recruited and coached 15 All-Capital Athletic Conference players including two-time CAC Player-of-the-Year Kerry Casperson. Casperson is the only conference two-time Player-of-the-Year in any sport in York College history. The Spartans have five 20-plus win?seasons under the guidence of DuMars.

DuMars is also responsible for athletic facility scheduling at York College.

DuMars resides in York with her husband, Steve, and their four children, Nick, Luke, Jake, and Georgia.



Kerry Zech

Kerry (Casperson) Zech returns for her third season as Sue DuMars’ assistant coach after a stellar four-year career at YCP.
Zech was a two-time Capital Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Year honoree as she is the only York College athlete to earn the award twice during her playing career. She finished her career as a three-time All-Capital Athletic Conference selection as the Spartans went 48-22 over the last two years of her career including an appearance in the CAC championship match her senior season. For her career, Zech accumulated 1,311 kills, 1,336 digs, an attack percentage of .252, 525 assists, and 195 service aces.
Zech lives in York with her husband, Josh, and teaches in the Red Lion School District.
