Tim Bonitz was named the new York College volleyball coach on March 18, 2015. Bonitz ascends to the head position after assisting former Spartan head coach Sue DuMars who retired from coaching at the end of the 2014 campaign. Bonitz had served as DuMars' assistant in each of the last two seasons.
Under Bonitz, the Spartans went 13-18 in 2015, his first year at the helm, and 3-6 in Capital Athletic Conference play. In his second season, however, the Spartans took a huge leap under Bonitz. He guided York to a 21-10 record overall and 4-5 in CAC play, leading them to his first CAC Tournament. In the first round, York fell to Christopher Newport. Through two seasons, York is 34-28 under Bonitz through two seasons, and 7-11 in CAC play.
Bonitz is no stranger to the York County coaching scene. He has coached at Susquehannock High School since 2008 and served s head varsity boy's coach since 2010. He was responsible for all aspects of the Warrior program. He also served as the club director at the South York Volleyball Club from 2010 to 2012 prior to joining the Spartan coaching staff. Bonitz was responsible for club schedules, managing the budget and the day-to-day operations of the club. Bonitz most recently served as a coach for the Yorktowne Volleyball Club for the past two years.
Bonitz brings extensive management experience to the Spartan program. He is the Director of Sales and Marketing at York Barbell. He is responsible for the execution of the national and local sales and marketing plan. Bonitz is York Barbell's company liaison for public events and also the event coordinator for local, national, and international events. He also earned his masters degree from Millersville University in Sport Management.
