How It Happened:
• The opening set was back and forth as both teams were in search of momentum. The set was tied at seven when the Captains hit York with six straight points. The Captains eventually pushed their lead to 15-10. York scored five of the next six points in the set to draw to within one at 16-15. York got to within one point one more time at 18-17 but the Captains ended the set on a 7-3 run to secure the 25-20 set one win.
• The second set saw the Captains get off to a quick start with an 11-5 spurt to begin the second set. The CNU lead grew to 16-7 but York was able to assemble an 11-3 run, bringing them to within one at 19-18. The Captains answered with a set-ending 6-1 run to earn the 25-19 set two victory.
• York got off to a great start in the third set as they scored the first five points of the game. That lead would be gone 15 points later as the Captains tied the set at 10. The teams went back and forth as the set was tied five more times with the final tie coming at 15-15. The Captains took off from there and outscored York 10-1 over the final 11 points to earn the three set win.
York falls to 0-7 all-time against the Captains as they have never won a set against CNU … York had a season-low in kills (27), assists (27), and attack percentage (.116) … York is now 4-3 in three-set decisions … York's 57 digs were a season-high for a three set match … senior Alexis Harbold had 26 digs in just three sets including 14 in the first set alone … York had four aces and six service errors which marks the ninth time this year that the Spartans have had more errors than aces in a game … York is now 1-3 on the road … the Spartans' four match win streak was a season high.
York returns home on Wednesday evening when they host Penn State Berks in a non-conference contest. The match is slated for a 7:00 pm start in Wolf Gymnasium.
